Full Description:
TAMPA, FL (January 2009)--- Mrs. Butterworth’s®asked kids ages 7-12 to submit their most creative breakfast stories, scouring the nation for the most creative tales.Out of many entries from all over the nation, Daniel Carr, 12, of Tampa, Florida has been chosen as the winner of the Mrs. Butterworth’s “Write the Book about Mrs. Butterworth” contest. Daniel will be awarded a $5,000 U.S. Savings Bond, publication of his book online at www.mrsbutterworthsyrup.com and over $100 worth of Scholastic books.
For more than 40 years, Mrs. Butterworth’sÒSyrup has staked her claim as the thickest breakfast table companion, creating smiles for kids everywhere. Over time, the Mrs. Butterworth character has become an imaginary friend at the breakfast table. We at Mrs. Butterworth’s wanted to know what secrets she shares that make kids smile, so we asked kids across the country to write an original 400-word story about their breakfast with Mrs. Butterworth’s.
“We wanted to encourage children to interact with Mrs. Butterworth, read, and learn - and through entering this contest possibly become as much of a celebrity as Mrs. Butterworth herself!” said Allison Meyer, associate brand manager of syrups at Pinnacle. “It was clear to us that Daniel’s an expressive story teller- his story and illustrations were both informative and highly creative.”
Daniel’s story was chosen as the winner of the contest by an independent panel of experts, including Scholastic education experts, executives, educators and children’s book authors.
Ten finalists were also selected to receive $500 U.S. Savings Bonds and a supply of Mrs. Butterworth’s Syrup.
About Mrs. Butterworth’s You can enjoy Mrs. Butterworth’s in Original flavor, Sugar Free or Lite – all of which deliver that distinct thick, rich and buttery syrup. Lite, which delivers half the calories of regular syrups, has passed the test of time, now entering its 20th year on the market – and continuing to delight kids. Sugar Free was introduced in 2004 and meets the needs of consumers, whether kids or adults, who want sugar free syrup. Moreover, Sugar Free has 80% less calories and ½ the carbohydrates of regular syrups. Both Lite and Sugar Free recipes have been carefully crafted to make sure they deliver on the thick, rich and buttery syrup only Mrs. Butterworth can make. The distinctive grandma-shaped bottle, with its label doubling as an apron, continues to be the gold standard for the thickest syrup you can buy. There is one other way to bring the delicious fun of Mrs. Butterworth to breakfast – with Mrs. Butterworth’s Complete Pancake Mix in Buttermilk and Home-style flavors. Her pancake recipe is the perfect combination of sweet and buttery pancakes that kids will love.
