MOSI is displaying the artwork of Elaine Krajenke Ellison in the 2nd floor Connecting Hallway now through January 29, 2010. She combines mathematics and quilting to depict a love of mathematical concepts while paying tribute to famous artists and scientists around the world. Ellison, now a retired mathematics teacher, transformed her classroom from a traditional setting to a hands-on experience; encouraging students to explore mathematics as they gained geometric insights through quilting. Ellison's quilts engage the viewer in mathematical visualization, helping to further the role of problem solving.
